The Boing! Toy Shop Story

Boing! Toy Shop opened in 2001 with the goal of providing quality toys and being a valuable resource for the community of Jamaica Plain in Boston. With our love of play, sense of fun, and excellent customer service, combined with the support of families in the JP community, that goal was not hard to achieve. Over time, we've come to serve customers throughout the Greater Boston Area and nationwide, although our heart remains in this community. Twenty years later, Boing! is a well-loved staple of Jamaica Plain and the surrounding areas.

Kim Mitchell, the owner of Boing!, has lived in Jamaica Plain with her family for several decades, and can't imagine raising her daughter anywhere else. Before owning and operating Boing!, Kim had a successful career in finance, but she longed to work more directly with the community and to see firsthand the impact of her efforts. When Boing!'s previous owner put the store up for sale, Kim jumped on the opportunity. Kim is a kid at heart and toys and games are second nature to her. She had no doubt Boing! was the perfect next chapter in her life.

Boing! has been everything Kim hoped and wished it would be. She loves that she's built a vibrant toy store and feels fortunate to have a strong community to support her work. She can often feel the generosity of the community and loves the wonderful feedback she receives from her customers. Kim considers Boing's relationship to the community of Jamaica Plain to be a partnership, and is very proud to be part of the unique personality of the neighborhood.

Kim hopes to continue to provide toys for fun, growth, and education through Boing! for the JP community and beyond. As always, she thanks the community for shopping local, and all of Boing's customers for their ongoing support in helping her create connections, one toy at a time.
